I think it is safe to say that most people outside of Florida are stunned at the what the Gators did to Ohio State last night. 41-14? Honestly it wasn't even that close. Ohio State looked lost on offensive and defensive. I know the loss of Ted Ginn Jr. was a big hit but from what everyone said about this Buckeye team you would think they were unstoppable. Florida was the better team last night - I don't care to hear about Ohio State being rusty or anything else.
So now the question is raised, was Ohio State over rated? Was their undefeated season really that good? To see lets look at their schedule this season and analyze some of their games.
Sep 2 Northern Illinois Won 35-12
Sep 9 @Texas Won 24-7
Sep 16 Cincinnati Won 37-7
Sep 23 Penn St. Won 28-6
Sep 30 @Iowa Won 38-17
Oct 7 Bowling Green Won 35-7
Oct 14 @Michigan St. Won 38-7
Oct 21 Indiana Won 44-3
Oct 28 Minnesota Won 44-0
Nov 4 @Illinois Won 17-10
Nov 11 @Northwestern Won 54-10
Nov 18 Michigan Won 42-39
Jan 8 Florida Lost 14-41
Now I am not saying Ohio State doesn't play a tough schedule, they play a good deal of big time football programs. However, what are their signature wins? Texas and Michigan. Texas ended up not as good as people thought they were and Michigan was beaten badly by USC in the Rose Bowl. So, was Ohio State overrated when they came into the championship game? Possibly. I still they deserved to be their and deserved the #1 ranking - this is why we need a playoff.
