Well the 2007 College Football Signing Day has come and gone, it was an interesting journey filled with smiles, tears and disbelief. But hey what year isn't?
Looking at this years list of the top prospects it should come as no surprise the usual big time football programs lead the list. USC YET AGAIN seems to have the #1 class, there big day was topped off by signing the #1 overall college football prospects Joe McKnight. McKnight, a running back, is a good old boy from Louisiana so it has to come as a surprise to the LSU Tigers that he passed on his home state school for the bright lights of LA. Along with superstar in the making McKnight the Trojans signed ILB Chris Galippo and RB Marc Taylor. These three guys along would make any program jump for joy - now add in all of the other prospects signed and USC is tops on just about every list.
Building off their national championship the Florida Gators jumped big time in everyones eyes with their class. In fact if it wasn't for McKnight going to USC, Florida would probably have the #1 class. The gators didn't have the 3 big names like USC but picked up just solid player after player. The Gators with Tebow are going to be an exciting team to watch the next year or two.
Other college football teams with a very impressive class coming in are Texas, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, Notre Dame, Miami, South Carolina (100% credit goes to Spurrier) and Michigan. The only surprise I saw yesterday was the fact that Ohio State barely cracked the top 20 in most rankings. I mean Illinois is bringing in a better group of guys then the Buckeyes! Who would have thunk it!
